On Being Inspired by Ancient Art

People have always made art of one sort or another, from the earliest times until today. It's part of what makes us human.
Art from the ancient world can be every bit as inspiring as creations from more recent times. In fact, it can even inspire us to create our own expressions of art in the modern world.
That's exactly what the Minoan seal rings have done for me: provide inspiration for modern art. Here's a look at my Minoan Seal Ring Project, modern style paintings based on the scenes depicted on the beautiful gold rings found in Minoan tombs:
